SPACEX LAUNCHES GPS III SATELLITE FOR U.S. SPACE FORCE

SPACEX’S FALCON 9 ROCKET HAS SUCCESSFULLY LAUNCHED A GPS III SATELLITE INTO ORBIT

SpaceX launched a Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station on Thursday, June 17 2021, at 12:09 pm. This launch carried one GPS III satellite into Earth’s orbit. GPS III satellites are useful for national security and military communications. As a result of Falcon 9’s advanced technology, the mission was a success!

HE U.S. SPACE FORCE CONTRACTED SPACEX TO FLY THIS MISSION

In August of 2020, the U.S. Space Force chose SpaceX and ULA over Blue Origin and Northrop Grumann to fly its missions. Therefore, they chose SpaceX for this important mission. GPS III satellites have an important thing called M-Code technology. This provides an encrypted network for our military to communicate through. Moreover Lockheed Martin equipped their latest satellites to better resist jamming and other attacks. Furthermore, the launch of this Space Vehicle 05 brings the number of satellites equipped with M-Code in its constellation to 24. In the world of global communication, this is considered the magic number.

Falcon 9 launched at 12:09 from the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station using the first flight-proven reusable booster approved for this purpose. Following separation, the booster successfully made re-entry and landed on the drone ship called ‘Just Read The Manual.’ Afterwards, Falcon 9 continued to rise in altitude to 4230km and a blazing speed of 24,508 km/m. At this point the GPS III satellite was released into its orbit at T+ 1 hour 29 minutes and 27 seconds post-launch. Mission success!

MY THOUGHTS

SpaceX has brought humanity ever closer to the dream of interplanetary human travel. The fact that humans can now carry that much cargo in a more reliable, efficient way than ever is inspirational! The Falcon 9 rocket is an incredible technology that brings one hope for colonies on Mars and beyond.
